~ Hospital Farm ~

 

To build a farm for a hospital was planned,

A farmer was then engaged to change the land,

Patients, workers were given and laboured in his care,

The posts for fences put up; the animals all came in,

Greenhouses, free range eggs and an organic garden,

No job was too much; all workers were as one,

Farmer and workers toiled and tilled the earth,

Sweet grassland swards tendered for the ewes,

To raise skipping spring suckling lambs,

The patient’s souls sparkled in midday sun,

Farmer was pleased with his tasks now done,

Some challenged, “Why you treat them all the same”,

The farmer pondered and then retorted after awhile,

“Are we not here to encourage and give them confidence?”
