The Tigress of Raynes Park

~ The hapless fly ~

Flying far, I sought to land,

Sweet aromas, near at hand,

Honey globules of morning Sundew,

So hapless, I sought you,

At once I knew my tricky peril,

For I’d descended on a tricky devil,

There was on you a fatal flaw,

I had landed on your jaw,

Then I struggled to fly free,

You closed slowly, right around me,

Then your grip grew tight,

I could no longer take flight,

How strange to think, I thought you sweet,

When all along, I was just your meat.
