The Tigress of Raynes Park
Home Contents Lines Previous Next~ Hedgehog ~
The hedgehog is a curious fellow,
Quiet, shy and snuggles up small,
Enjoying the hibernation of deep sleep,
Dreaming through the wintry perils,
Yawns and wakes as spring dawns,
Innocent eyes, shy of the midday sun,
Feeds her foundlings in twilight,
Rolls up in balls to avoid harm,
Showing sharp prickles to everyone,
The tummy continually rumbles on,
Forages forests for slugs and snails,
So if you come across this prickly one,
Remember beneath that armour of nails,
There lies a very warm and loving mum.
